I have a lot on my plate

on one’s plate

  • have a lot on one’s plate:事情很多
  • have enough on one’s plate:已經夠忙了(暗示別再加)
  • What’s on your plate this week?:
  • take something off someone’s plate:幫某人分擔工作

特別值得學的是 take something off your plate 這個說法。 Let me take the vendor calls off your plate.(廠商電話我來處理),聽起來既體貼又專業,是建立團隊信任的好句子。

What’s on your plate?

Email|

Sorry for the slow reply. I’ve had a lot on my plate with the year-end close.

Before I assign the new account, can everyone share what’s on your plate right now?

Slack|

You’ve got enough on your plate. I can take the meeting notes off your plate today.

  1. 介系詞是 on:不是 in my plate。
  2. 不要跟 plate 的其他片語混淆:step up to the plate 是「挺身承擔」,意思完全不同。
I have a lot on my plate

My current workload is quite heavy.
I am fully committed with… at the moment.
I’m quite busy with…
I’m swamped. / I’m up to my neck in work.
